Well folks my life kinda took a turn, I had a severe diaphragm hernia (my stomach had blown through diaphragm the up in to chest). I came over to Denver for my pre-op on Monday Sept 30th which was suppose to be for 3 days, ending with an EDG , where they stick a camera down your esophagus in to your stomach to look around. Anyway when I came out from under the anesthesia, the Doc said I had the Big C around the base of my esophagus where it attaches to the stomach. Which explained why I was having to water down Ensure to get it down, lost about 55 lbs in less than 3 months. So the next day, Thursday, they ran me through a PET scan head to toe, and found that it had spread to my liver and limp nodes. So I figured I was a goner, went to see the oncology surgeon about pulling my down and attaching it to my abdominal wall, an installing a feeding tube, I figured hey, their, the experts so whatever they say is the way to go.
Then went to see oncologist barely got to talk to him he said they had found something in my brain and had to get a MRI stat, so they sent me through that and admitted me to the oncology floor. So I was there for over a month and finally got placement in an assisted living facility. Going for my third round of chemo next Wednesday, they did another MRI a week or so before they discharged me. Since the tumor isn't growing, they are going after the lower body cancer for now. There are good indications that the chemo is shrinking the tumor at the base of esophagus, I can eat now although my stomach has shrunk up so much, I can’t get a lot down at one time, and to further complicate matters the chemo is attacking my taste buds so nothing taste like it should.
So I probably won’t be participating here much for a while.
